If you think craft beer is best thing you can find on tap in Indy, Fab Flames is ready to challenge your assumptions.
Fab Flames, a new candle-making workshop inside Pottery By You, has more than 80 scents of candle wax on tap at a “wax bar” in their studio. You decide what you would like to blend, and they allow you to whip up your own concoction and pour it into a glass for your drinking — I mean burning — pleasure.
My husband and I recently had the opportunity to try our hands at candle making, and we had a blast. The endless number of scents available allow attendees to get creative.
For example, after noticing a previous customer had made a delicious smelling “butterbeer” candle, I attempted to do the same. I mixed kentucky bourbon, caramel pecan and buttered popcorn to create my butterbeer scent, while my husband made a manly mix of kentucky bourbon, leather, and race car fuel scents. We decided to make more candles, and I mixed espresso and hazelnut to create a hazelnut latte candle, while my husband brewed green tea, bamboo musk and leather.
With the pleasing smell of candles being made and the simple act of pouring and mixing ingredients, I found candle making to be an extremely relaxing and rejuvenating nightcap after a long day.
