Anyone who knows me knows I love breakfast food, but pancakes are often hit or miss. It’s one of those dishes that should be simple, but it is so easy to get wrong by undercooking or using too much of any ingredient. That’s why, when I decided to order pancakes at Hotcakes Emporium Pancake House & Restaurant, I was somewhat hesitant. I had recently had a lackluster pancake experience at an otherwise wonderful eatery, yet after trying Hotcakes out i’m glad I took the risk.

These pancakes were cooked to perfection; the dough tasted fluffy and sweet. They come in a wide variety of flavors, including banana nut and chocolate chip. We tried the the Oreo Cheesecake pancake and a traditional buttermilk pancake.I like the fact that the flavors are not overwhelming as the toppings on the Oreo Cheesecake were not cooked throughout the pancake but rather placed on top.

In addition to pancakes, they serve crepes, waffles, omelets and more. Hotcakes has two indianapolis locations, 8555 Ditch Road and 6901 Bluff Road. The full menu can be found online here .

I will definitely be back soon as this is easily my favorite breakfast-centered restaurant  in Indianapolis right now. Sorry, IHOP.
